Even though it was her second tour for humedica, she still brought back many experiences with her to her home in Siegen. The two weeks in Kosovo had left their marks. Stefanie shares just what these were in the following report.
„It was my second tour with humedica and once again I was enthused, impressed and deeply moved. I am happy that I could help the people in Kosovo - and have the chance to get to know them a little.
However, I am appalled at the poverty there, the living conditions of many families and the enormous amount of bad medical care. I am now all the more thankful that humedica has built such a wonderful, important and absolutely necessary project there.

For example, we had several patients with an unusually high blood pressure, and they can be helped in that humedica sends a medical team to Kosovo four times a year. One can also see the treatment successes from the repeated visits. The same goes for many patients suffering from Diabetes, whose numbers have improved over the years. I realized that these people have developed a great trust in humedica. This was nice to see and naturally important for treatments to be successful.
Unfortunately, though, many people don’t have enough money to purchase additional medicine for the period of time until humedica returns once they have used up the medicine we have given them. But hopefully we can help these people a bit, in that we explain a little about living and eating habits. This is important in general, because there is a large lack of basic knowledge in this area.
All in all my tour was very nice. It was interesting and exciting to drive to a different village every day, not knowing beforehand where and how we would be working. I am happy and thankful, that I could help out and highly recommend a tour with humedica to my fellow colleagues.
